when school resumes

Finn: "I want to go on a bike riding." Lots and lots of bike riding. And of course, Lala's baby has to come along in her mei tai.

I don't homeschool (although there's always before and after schooling), so for us, the summer has had a different rhythm. I have totally enjoyed having the kids (almost) full time (I have definitely had a few expected and unexpected breaks tossed in there), but I don't know how those of you who homeschool do it. I don't mean how you survive without going crazy. (I am not going crazy, surprising given my kids still don't seem to fall asleep until around 9pm...still working on that). What I mean is...how do you get anything else done?

Grooming goats at the petting zoo.

We have less than two weeks until Lala resumes school. Finnian already started part time preschool (early, to help him transition) and Lala attended with him for a couple of days, so I got a taste of "me" time. During those couple of days, I decided to make a list of all the things I want to accomplish during my "me" times once school resumes. I figure this will free up my brain to totally enjoy the next couple of weeks with the kids. I don't really need to accomplish anything before then, right?

Finn wanted to see cows, so we took ourselves off to the farm.

While at the farm, we needed to check on the pumpkin patch the kids helped plant. Looking good!

When school resumes:
  • finish updating our budget and sorting our finances
  • make soap
  • clean the floors really well
  • finally make those pants for Finn Luca
  • start and finish holiday gifts
  • start and finish baby gifts
  • start and finish birthday gifts
  • finish some of those photo projects I started (there are many)
  • clean my car
  • continue re-organizing my home
  • make a little more progress on the kitchen
  • do something about our yard
I am going to edit this post and add as I think of more. The lists are never-ending, aren't they?

What's on your list?
